Making 2030 an achievable goal

In 2015, the UK as part of the United Nations, formally adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In its broadest terms it provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.

At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

Two of the seventeen SDGs have a direct impact on the Building Service Industry. We, as a country, have committed to “build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation” and to “make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable” by 2030. In order for us to achieve this every organisation in the sector needs will need to play a role.

At Extentia Group we want to make sure we connect what we do to the contribution we make to the world. We operate in an age of transparency where it is no longer acceptable for a business to just articulate how they have the capabilities to deliver a product or service. All our key stakeholders want to know who we are and why we exist beyond making a profit. We need to actively demonstrate how we are a responsible, ethical and sustainable business that works with all stakeholders to share their core values and help them to achieve their goals.
